The Mori Tropical Rainforest Scenic Area has a forest coverage rate of over 96%, preserving dozens of rare plants such as large-leaved banyan, fine-leaved banyan, tall banyan, seven-leaf lotus, the "forest king" strangler fig, and tree ferns known as "hundreds of millions of years old living fossils." It is China's natural forest oxygen bar with the highest negative ion concentration.
Mori Waterfall, also known as Zhado Waterfall, is the waterfall with the greatest drop in Dehong and even in southwestern Yunnan. At the end of the Mori Gorge, clear spring water cascades down a 60-meter-high cliff, forming a waterfall scene described as "water layers like cotton, scattering flowers without bows or arrows." The small pool beneath the waterfall is emerald green and crystal clear.
The Zhado River winds like a jade belt through the deep mountains and dense forests of the Mori Scenic Area. Due to the steep and deep riverbed terrain, rugged rocks, and winding twists, the river water is clear and rapid, sometimes surging with white waves, sometimes like a group of giant beasts scrambling among the rocks, creating many thrilling landscapes. It gives a feeling of "nine bends and ten turns leading to a secluded place," making people joyful and carefree.
It is said that when Sakyamuni Buddha traveled to Mori, holding a meditation staff, he followed the Zhado creek upstream to find its source. Suddenly, he saw a huge rock lying by the river. The Buddha sat cross-legged in meditation, closed his eyes and joined his hands, chanting quietly. The meditation staff suddenly transformed into a towering ancient banyan tree growing on the huge rock. Over time, the roots intertwined like a net, forming a scenic spot called "Tree Embracing Rock."
In the Mori Tropical Rainforest, there is currently the largest Babao Tree discovered in the Dehong area, known as the "King of Babao Trees." The scenic area features numerous strange stones, steep cliffs, towering ancient trees, flowing streams, colorful flowers, warm hot springs, nearly 400 species of wild animals, and more than 1,500 species of wild plants. It is an important part of the Ruili River Basin Nature Reserve and the Tongbiguan Nature Reserve.
